A look behind the hike.

So weird... Just a few minutes ago I was cleaning the shelves by my desk and I picked up your book and was looking at it. Then I sit down and you've made your first post in like seven months... SPOOOOKY your book summoned you.

I'm just honored you haven't thrown it in the trash or used it as toilet paper. I'm curious to see what other voodoo-like skills your copy possesses. Hopefully my face won't start stinking like garbage or crap shortly. Well, as least not more than usual.

Very impressive footage, kudos on the results.

^_^

Awesome footage. .the go pro seems to take some really rich images. What are your thought of it over a dlsr, or a prosumer movie cam?

A DSLR or higher-end camera will get you better images period. The GoPro is also fixed to a single wide-angle view with a fixed focus. The thing with the GoPro is that it is small and can go anywhere. I've taken them 70 feet underwater, underground, up rocks, through wet canyons, and all sorts of other conditions where a bigger camera couldn't fit, would be bulky, or might get destroyed. That being said, the GoPro can get some pretty impressive footage for a tiny fully-automatic $400 camera. It is also the most successful camera in the world right now so its current limitations may disappear with future product releases.

nice, I really am liking the look it creates. Have you tried to track its video? I have a standard def 3CCD camera. (panasonic DvXB) and it did a better job giving me trackable video than my HD canon 7D which I beleive is Cmos..... I have since sold the canon, but am thinking about getting an HD version of the panasonic. Im assuming the GoPro is Cmos, and probably has some ugly rolling shutter. have you tried tracking its video?

I haven't needed to track anything on GoPro yet. I have tracked footage from other CMOS cameras. When I run into tracking problems it tends to be because of how the footage was shot and not due to the shutter. The rolling shutter does exist on the GoPro and can be pretty ugly at points. That tends to be when the camera is moving in random directions rapidly. Usually that footage wouldn't be useable anyway even without the shutter jiggle.
